the question to myself

installation, public art / saarbrücken, germany / competition 2025

“the question to myself” explores a journey of self-reflection as a way to remember and reconnect with the persecution and suffering faced by homosexuals in the past. Fragmented mirrors, three-dimensional triangles, and symbolic colors generate endless reflections that evoke confusion, allowing viewers to encounter versions of themselves seemingly separated from the present. Through this disorienting process of looking inward, the work leads to an emotional link with the pain and convictions of those who endured discrimination.

The installation is arranged in an L-shaped composition: two sides face the benches, while the other two extend at a 45-degree angle toward the street. Each surface features a triangular pattern. The street-facing plane is flat with symmetrical triangular openings, whereas the bench-facing side presents three-dimensional triangles oriented in multiple directions. The lateral surfaces are painted in pink and rainbow hues. Polished metal sheets, aluminum framing, and recycled polycarbonate panels form the structural base, onto which the triangular patterns are applied.
